What inspired you to open Monkees?

Owning a clothing boutique is something I’ve dreamed about since high school. As a longtime shopper of other Monkee’s locations, I knew how well respected the name is in the southeast and wanted to be a part of something that has such a deep, successful infrastructure. Everytime I walked into another Monkee’s, I’d think to myself, “Lexington REALLY needs one of these!!”

I have to say I’m pretty obsessed with the Duchess of Cambridge, the beautiful and real Kate Middleton. She has such natural beauty, style, and grace. She’s grounded; she’s a real person! I love how she mixes vintage couture with today’s style trends. And I also love that she wears clothing more than once!!!

‘Must-have’ this spring….

Color! Tangerine, cobalt, kelly green, fuschia! Colored jeans are so hot right now and add so much sass to a wardrobe.

Favorite moment at Monkees since opening

I can’t pinpoint one exact moment, but the opening weekend would be my most favorite time in the store. It was so exciting and encouraging to see so many people walk through the door! I was scared to death no one would show up!
