In early February 2008 Helen Van Meter Tweed opened Helen’s Boutique in a very popular HAUTE spot….corner of Woodland and East Maxwell street across from the firehouse and a few doors down from Ramsey’s! I must say it looks better now than ever, adorned with Helen’s haute-pink awning – you can’t miss it! The inside of the boutique is just as inviting. Helen’s carries over 28 designer lines you’ll love, that doesn’t including her designer accessory lines too!

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB? I worked as a runner and bus girl at Dudley’s
WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT OWNING YOUR OWN BOUTIQUE? I love that I get to share all the clothes that I love with everyone and the look on my customers faces when they find something they feel amazing in. Also, I get to play dress up every day! So much fun!
WHAT DO YOU FIND MOST CHALLENGING? The most challenging part of owning my own boutique is refraining from buying everything that I love and want for myself and trying to choose items that would be suitable for everyone. I love billowy printed dresses, but lets face it, a lot of printed fabric just doesn’t suit everyone. So, making sure I have something for everyone is what I find most challenging.
Bella Rose is celebrating its 30th anniversary on Saturday April 24th with a huge champagne reception/trunk show!! Everything in the store will be 15% off!! Bella Rose is adding a tent to the store for additional space to accomodate the champagne toasts, mint juleps for Derby season, fashion show!, food, special door prizes, giveaways…and….Drum roll please……from 3-5 Mark and James of Badgley Mischka are going to make a special appearance at the party!!

The Lexington Cancer Foundation’s annual Hats and Handbags for Life is a silent auction of new and gently worn hats and handbags from national and local designers. Designers have included Badgley Mischka, Gucci, Prada, Ferragamo and hats from Christine Moore, Polly Singer, Frank Olive just to name a few. It is a perfect way for friends to get together for night of fun, while supporting LCFI’s mission in the fight against cancer.
