Favorite vacation spot?

Not sure that I have a favorite – if there is a beach, I am happy!  Right now I am dreaming of a vacation to Santorini, Greece.  It just looks so beautiful!

Favorite restaurant?

Holly Hill Inn or Black Tulip in Midway are my favorite local restaurants and are our go-to restaurants when we have out-of-town guests visit us.

Cocktail of choice?

Champagne and PAMA

Favorite gift to give?

It all depends on the recipient but I like to give something personalized or from a local artist.  MEllen Designs does great stationary and SallyB has great jewelry! Its also fun to make baskets for people with groups of smaller gifts that work together – like a tailgate basket for friends that love football or a “relax” basket of spa goodies for a friend who has been under alot of

stress.

Favorite personal item?

Its sad, but probably my iPhone.  It is how I stay in touch with my family and friends that do not live in Lexington, which is really important to me.

Style icon?

Sarah Jessica Parker. She always looks so adorable and appropriate. Is she too young to be an icon?

Favorite designer?

My favorite event designer is Mindy Weiss.  Her events are beautiful and unique.  I love the fun, personal touches that she includes for each client.

How do you define style?  Any style advice?

This is a tough one.  Whether it’s attire, interior decorating or an event, style is so personal and what works for one person does not always work for another. It all has to do with attitude. I tend to favor a hodgepodge of styles, mixing new with vintage. My advice is to develop what feels good and not be afraid of risks.

Top of your style/wardrobe wishlist?

Recently, my focus has been decorating our house and there is a great ottoman that I want for my living room that Shannon Lisk designed.  I even got my puppy to chew up the coffee table so it needed replacing, but I have not convinced my husband that we need it…yet.

What is in your beauty bag?

I am a total product junkie so my beauty bag has several pots of eyeshadow and lip gloss, multiple tubes of mascara, several shades of rouge and various other lotions and powders.  Two constants are my MAC mascara and Kerstin Florin sunscreen.

How do you define true luxury?

I think it changes with my mood.  Right now, true luxury is snuggling into a bed made up with a fabulous set of sheets with my puppies and husband after a day of golf in perfect weather and a romantic dinner with great wine and food. Next week, it might involve a facial at a great spa!

Favorite mantra?

Mantras are a little strange to me…I guess “cute and fun”?  It seems to fit every situation and if it is “cute and fun” it can’t be that terrible!

What motivates you the most?  Who inspires you?

I love a challenge and I love to set a goal and find a way to reach it.  I am much happier when I have lots of balls in the air and have way too much to

do!

What do you love most about event planning?

I love the moment when all of the details come together and everyone is having a good time.  It makes all of the hard work pay off.

Any tips for women wanting to start their own business venture?
