Clinton Kelly for QVC

May 16, 2008

clinton.png A message  from Clinton Kelly:

“As you probably know, I’ve dedicated the last 5 years of my life proving that the desire to be comfortable is no excuse for running around town looking like a hot mess.  So, I’ve created a small line of women’s sportswear that is COMFORTABLE, CASUAL, AFFORDABLE and STYLISH.  And I did it with the help of some fantastic people at QVCTune into QVC this Tuesday, May 20th, from 11 am EST until noon, and again from 8 pm EST until 9pm to see my collection for Denim andCo.  All body types welcome.

P.S.  The trouser jean might just change your life. (I’m not kidding.)”

Wardrobe Essentials

May 11, 2008

bebepants.jpg  halterdress.jpg

chaintop.jpg  ninewestwedge.jpg

white pants
make sure to find the right fitting pair – remember white is not like black and shows everything – wear footless Spanx under them

halter dresses
not all necklines are the same – strapless can be dangerous if you don’t realize how bad your bathing suit strap marks are – the halter is flattering and with a Nu-Bra you can make your cleavage look great too!

tunics
with so many options out there right now -a tunic is the perfect way to add color, style and haute high fashion to your outfit – don’t forget some make great swim cover-ups too!

wedges
the wedge is probably the perfect shoe every created- since they aren’t actual heels, they are way more comfortable and again with all the amazing options out there – you are sure to find one you can’t live without.

Clinton Kelly is Freakin’ Fabulous!

May 5, 2008

cute-clinton.png

Love him on What Not to Wear!  Love his book, Dress Your Best Holding our breath until the release of Freakin’  Fabulous!  We already knew that if anyone could direct us in ‘dressing, speaking, eating, entertaining, decorating, and generally being better than everyone else’…it would certainly be Clinton (duh!).

freakinfabulous.jpg

Clinton was cuter, wittier, more charming, and just all around fabulous when he appeared at Macy’s a few weeks ago.  The show’s focus was petites, but his advice was spot-on for women of all sizes & ages!  A few tips…

Divide and Conquer:  Clinton  pulled a lady from the audience to the runway, saying “you come to Macy’s to see Clinton Kelly dressed like that?!?!?!” (She was in a denim skirt, canvas sneakers and chunky knit tank).  This gal was a great sport & Clinton couldn’t have been kinder offering his suggestions.  She appeared conscious of her backside, tugging her sweater down, to which he advised, “Divide and Conquer”, by demonstrating that when her top hit at the middle of her backside, it was visually minimized.

At a Certain Age:  I’ve heard him repeat this on the show…women of “a certain age” (which may be 35 for some, and 75 for others) will feel the need to avoid or modify certain trends…Read his dialogue on this topic from this Chicago Tribune column.

Not that this bears repeating to any of our Haute readers, but he did also advise avoidance of the “Texas Tuxedo” -denim on top and bottom (unless I guess you are performing in the rodeo?)

Shoes…we can’t forget the shoes!  We all know it’s true, and have heard it espoused by both Clinton and  (beautiful, glamorous, uber-haute) Stacy, but always remember the power of the pointy-toed pump to elongate & narrow the leg!

clinton-1.jpg clinton-2.jpg

Check out the poster he signed for my daughter & her friends…it is framed & hung in her closet as a reminder of both our crazy-good time together & the timeless advice we heard from our mutual crush!  (Check out the super-serious security guy in the background of the first one!)…oh yah, and sorry about the whole skipping school thing…sometimes a girl needs to make an appointment with her fashionologist, Dr. Kelly!:)

I asked Clinton if he was going to Keeneland or Derby & he claimed he was kept too busy…but we are making our ’09 Derby plans now & are buying an extra ticket with his name on it!
