Anya Hindmarch – Is This Bag Haute? or Not?

July 22, 2007

Would you special order this bag? Would you wait outside for hours to get one?

This bag has caused real excitement for those in New York and many Asian cities. The story behind the bag is very interesting. (So are the riots that have been caused by those trying to purchase one).

The profits are going to an amazing cause, so knowing that makes the bag more appealing to me. We Are What We Do is the organization that approached Anya. The big controversy now is the question is being asked, Are those fighting for and buying the bag actually supporting the cause?

Check out Anya’s site for more details on U.S. availability of the bags.

Another interesting link at We Are What We Do site related to the story behind the bag.

Finally London based Oli launches its online store and very cool magazine link!
Check out just a few of Oli’s great fashion finds. You must visit Oli.co.uk – there is so much to see! Don’t forget it is in the UK, so there is a bit of an 80′s flare.

High-Waist Looks – The Haute and The NOT!

July 20, 2007
Caught High-Waisted!
Below we go from the Haute to the Not-So-Haute.
Haute and High-Waist Looks
Posh, Mrs. Becks, totally wears it well.
The thick belt sort of masks the major high waist look of these.
BTW, we are really loving VB, a.ka. Posh, she is actually pretty haute…so is her hubby, you might be familiar with him….

Jenny from the Block looks rockin’ too!
She is NOT someone I thought could pull this off, but hey!

NOT So Haute High-Waist Looks

Fergie!
High-waist, bootcut is one thing, but High-waist Overalls!…say it isn’t so….

What was Ms. Jessica thinking????
However this clearly displays the fear of high-waist anything.

Perfectly Preppy

July 20, 2007
It’s fun to follow the trends, but there’s something to be said for classic, enduring preppy styles.

There are the favorites like Lilly & J. Crew, and lots of newcomers as well:

Jennifer Reale Designs has adorable pieces to wear to work, on the weekends, even special occasion dresses.

CK Bradley designs…Love the bright, colorful prints in both clothing and accessories!

It’s all about graceful & elegant design at T.S. Dixin.

Gap Bath & Skin

July 20, 2007

Gap’s new Bath and Skin Collection is in-store and online now!!

There are eight indulgent products available in each of the eight divine scents.

I love the fragranced bath oil! It’s perfect for the summer…to give a moisturizing sheen to bronzed skin and a subtle fragrance when it’s too hot for perfume.
The apothecary-style packaging and labels look cute on display, too!

What’s Cookin’?

July 19, 2007

Some people plan their menus in advance and only go to the grocery once a week.

I am not one of them. That decision is usually made around 4:00 and is promptly followed by a trip to Kroger…but I have found some inspiration in What I Made for Dinner.

I love this blog! Photos and descriptions of yummy (and healthy) meals eaten out, and delicious recipes, too. It’s addictive!

Haute,or not,Trend? High Waisted Jeans/Pants

July 18, 2007
What do you think about these styles?

I personally think some look okay, but you have to be careful. You don’t want to look like Bridgette Bardot gone bad or the horrid – MOM JEAN; camel toe/flat butt…so select your trendy pants carefully and for goodness sake; if your body type doesn’t fit the trend…then pass on it!
